Conference Information

 

The New York Statewide Breastfeeding Coalition (NYSBC) invites you to the 15th Annual Education Conference to be held virtually on March 26, 2026. The 2026 conference theme is, The Clinical and Translational Science of Lactation: Examining Continuity of Care in New York ~ Past, Present, and Future.

 

The NYSBC Annual Education Conference is a conference for lactation professionals and any health or public health professionals who provide lactation support to families or work to create environments supportive of lactation and human milk feeding. By providing this annual professional continuing education   opportunity, the NYSBC aims to improve support from the health care sector for all breastfeeding and human milk feeding families. Presenting at the conference provides an opportunity for you to share your lactation expertise with public health, hospital, and community-based professionals and staff.

 

Please share this information with anyone you think may also be interested in submitting an abstract and, if selected, presenting at the NYSBC conference. Conference registration will open January 1, 2026. We thank you for your participation and engagement.

 

Abstract Information

The NYSBC is now accepting abstracts to be considered for presentation at the 15th Annual Education Conference to be held virtually on March 26, 2026. Presenters are encouraged to submit abstracts on the meeting theme - Examining Continuity of Care in New York ~ Past, Present, and Future - and current and emerging issues in breastfeeding, chestfeeding, and lactation.

 

The conference will be a virtual convening, and selected presenters will need to complete additional required documentation for continuing education credits to NYSBC by November 14, 2025. Selected presenters will receive free registration to the conference and an honorarium will be offered commiserate with level of experience and complexity of submission.

Abstract and Objectives/Conflict of Interest Submission Deadline - October 15, 2025, by 11:59 PM

Abstract Notification - Presenters will be notified via email of abstract status by October 27.

Topics for Presentation

The NYSBC Conference seeks presentations on the topics listed below. Presentations are encouraged that address innovative interventions, best practices, and achievements from New York State under these topics:

  • Mental Health & Emotional Wellbeing
  • Equity, Inclusion, & Diverse Populations
  • Clinical Skills & Advanced Lactation Topics
  • Systems-Level Breastfeeding Policy & Advocacy
  • Pumping, Donor Milk, & Technology
  • Parent Education & Support
  • Workforce Development & Career Pathways

Other areas may also be submitted but priority will be given to those meeting the above topic areas.  

 

Session Format Options

The following formats are eligible for submission: 

 

1. Presentation Session – 60 Minutes, 1-2 speakers

The presenter(s) will identify and organize a captivating presentation for 45 minutes during the 60-minute session to allow time for speaker introductions and Q&A. All presenters MUST attend the virtual session. 

 

2. Panel Session – 90 Minutes, 2-3 speakers

The presenters will identify and organize a captivating session for 75 minutes during the 90-minute session to allow time for speaker introductions and Q&A. All presenters MUST attend the virtual session.

Additional Guidelines

  1. NYSBC does not accept abstracts or research from infant formula companies. Infant formula relationships are described as if you are employed, associated, or affiliated with a company or their subsidiaries, representatives, producers, wholesalers, retailers, associations, foundations, or trade organizations or received funding (direct or indirect) from a company to conduct this research.
  2. All speakers must be in good standing with the WHO Code Compliance.
  3. NYSBC records all presentations for on-demand viewing until June 26, 2026.
  4. Selected presenters will receive a complimentary registration to attend the full conference.
  5. Submission of an abstract constitutes a commitment by the presenting author to present their work if the abstract is accepted. If for some reason you can no longer present and cannot find a replacement presenter, please email  conference@nysbreastfeeding.org  as soon as possible.
  6. Individuals may submit more than one abstract.
  7. Accept/Reject notices will be sent to the individual(s) listed as author(s) in the abstract submission form.

Review Process

  1. You may review, modify, or withdraw your abstract any time before Wednesday, October 15, 2025, 11:59 (EST) by logging back into the abstract submission site. Check your email for the link or click on the link on the top right of the abstract submission page.
  2. Each abstract will be blind reviewed by the 2026 Review Committee, and decisions to accept or reject abstracts rests with the Conference Planning Committee.

Continuing Education Credit Guidelines

NYSBC values the ability to provide continuing education credit to lactation professionals at its annual education conference. Complete all required information when submitting an abstract so credit can be claimed by attendees. These credits are necessary for attendees to keep their licenses and credentials. For a session to be eligible for continuing education credit, EVERY presenter or panelist must follow these guidelines:

  1. Do not use trade names or commercial product names.
  2. Include at least one measurable objective: Use ONLY the following measurable action verbs:  Explain, Demonstrate, Analyze, Formulate, Discuss, Compare, Differentiate, Describe, Name, Assess, Evaluate, Identify, Design, Define or List. Do not use (a) unmeasurable objectives such as “to understand” or “to learn” or (b) compound objectives.
  3. Submit a signed conflict of interest disclosure form with a relevant qualification statement (short biography).

 How to Submit

  1. Download and read the abstract application preview from the conference website. NYSBC suggests that abstracts be developed and finalized off-line in a program such as Microsoft Word for ease of editing and then copied into the online submission form. 
  2. Download and read the IBCLE Disclosure Form from the conference website. This signed form will need to be uploaded in the online submission form.
  3. Before you can make a submission, you will be prompted to log in or set up and account with Oxford Abstracts.
  4. All abstract applications must be submitted online via our abstract submission form  HERE.
  5. Submissions must be made by 11:59 PM on October 15, 2025. Submissions sent via email will not be considered.
